NEW South Carolina Supreme Court Decision Not Only Holds Your Company Liable
But Also Holds You Personally Liable For Violating Liquor Laws!!


August 2010 - A recent Supreme Court ruling is going to put more pressure on businesses that sell alcohol. Bars, restaurants, and even convenience stores could face stiffer penalties for selling alcohol to someone who ends up injuring someone else in a car accident. The Supreme Court of South Carolina upheld a 2003 ruling that awarded $10 million to a man who sued a bar after one of its patrons ran into him on a Greenwood highway. The decision also lifted the "corporate veil." which made Shou Mei Morris, the Getaway Lounge's owner, personally liable for the verdict amount.

Do you want to become an
approved ServSafe Alcohol Instructor?

Step 1: Take the ServSafe Alcohol Advanced Examination.
Your first step toward becoming a ServSafe Alcohol Approved Instructor is to pass or have passed the ServSafe Alcohol Advanced Examination within the last 3 years with a score 90 percent or higher.

Step 2: Submit an application.       
             All ServSafe Alcohol Approved Instructors must have:
               
·  A minimum of one year training/teaching experience OR
                ·  Have been hired into a training/teaching role OR
                ·  Have completed a NRAEF approved Train-the-Trainer
program.
                   

A non-refundable application fee of $50 will be required at the time of application.

Step 3: Attend the ServSafe Alcohol Train-the-Trainer webinar.
Upon acceptance of your application, you will be invited to attend the ServSafe Alcohol Train-the-Trainer webinar. Possession of a
ServSafe Alcohol Instructor Toolkit is highly recommended before attending the Train-the-Trainer webinar.

 

The Train-the-Trainer webinar - delivered by the NRAEF - will include:
                ·  Explanation of the program components and how they work together
                    to create an engaging and interactive course 
                ·  NRAEF procedures for preparing for classes, ordering examinations,
                     proctoring examinations and obtaining results and certificates

 

Step 4: Take the ServSafe Alcohol Train-the-Trainer Assessment
Knowledge of the concepts presented in the Train-the-Trainer webinar will be tested using an online Train-the-Trainer assessment. To become an Approved ServSafe Alcohol Instructor you must pass the Train-the-Trainer Assessment.

 

Access to the online assessment will be provided once your application has been accepted.

Step 5: Commit to the ServSafe Alcohol Instructor Code of Conduct
The final step in becoming a ServSafe Alcohol Approved Instructor is commitment to the Code of Conduct. Your commitment will be required before you are able to register classes and order examinations. 
The Code of Conduct is intended to promote responsible alcohol service by assuring Approved ServSafe Alcohol Instructors deliver the ServSafe Alcohol program as intended.

Access to the Code of Conduct will be provided once you have passed the ServSafe Alcohol Train-the-Trainer Assessment.
