The South Carolina Hospitality Association
The Smiling Faces in the Beautiful Places

South Carolina's hospitality industry consists of our state's largest private-sector employer restaurants, hotels, motels, resorts, bars, bed & breakfasts, nightclubs and inns.  In South Carolina, home of some of America's most beautiful and historic places, the hospitality industry consists of the smiling faces that help make a wonderful vacation, a delightful dinner or the expertise that exemplifies culinary excellence or delightful experiences.

The South Carolina Hospitality Association is the state's trade association for the lodging and foodservice industry and was formed in 1993 by the South Carolina Hotel & Motel and the South Carolina Restaurant Associations, our membership divisions.  We are the only state-wide trade association for the lodging and foodservice industry, representing our industry at the State House in Columbia, offering training and educational programs, workforce development programs and serve as the voice of the industry in our state.

The South Carolina Hotel & Lodging Association was founded in 1947 and is the state affiliiate for the American Hotel & Lodging Association.  Our lodging members with properties over 50 rooms are automatically members of AH&LA for one extremely reasonable price.  Our lodging members include traditional hotels, inns, bed & breakfasts, condominium and vacation home rentals and resorts.

The South Carolina Restaurant Association was founded in 1950 and is the state affiliate for the National Restaurant Association.  Our restaurant and foodservice members are automatically members of the NRA at no additional investment, and in the larger metropolitan areas, a member of a local chapter or partner organization.  Our foodservice members include restaurants from quick service to fine dining; nightclubs; bars; institutional food contractors and caterers.

Our chapters and local partners are:

  • The Greater Charleston Restaurant Association
  • The Greater Columbia Restaurant Association
  • The Columbia Hotel & Motel Association
  • The Greenville Hospitality Association
  • The Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association
  • The Spartanburg Area Restaurant Association

Members of our association are those progressive business owners and managers who want to keep their business on the cutting edge of information, who want to have the best trained staff, and who want to assist other members in making sure South Carolina's laws and regulations are business-friendly and have had the input of the industry when legislators debate new laws or changes to those already on the books.

Membership in our association is an investment in one's business with an extremely high rate of return!
